Southern Calfiornia Boutiques Holiday Guide: Beach Town Edition

Regardless of where you live, you can bring fresh, beach vibe fashion into your life. Southern California is home to hundreds of trendy, chic, fun, and eclectic boutiques where you can shop online or via social media. Although I can’t include every beach town along the southern California coastline, these are a few of my favorites.

Santa Monica

We’ll start in Santa Monica, a beautiful, picturesque beach town known for beautiful weather and great shopping. Tourist destinations like Third Street Promenade are crowded with chain stores, so we’re heading over to Montana Ave, an eclectic mix of boutiques and cafes where locals like to shop. You may even spot a celebrity there. You’ll discover Femelle, a boutique with a chill vibe, and a few miles from the beach. This Southern CA boutique carries both local and international brands.

Because Montana Ave consists of mostly high-end boutiques (think Gwyneth Paltrow’s GOOP), I chose to highlight Femelle because it is one of the few that is somewhat affordable.

You won’t completely break the bank. 🙂 Check out more on their website.

One of my favorite pieces in this style guide is Nation’s, Mabel Bias Skirt, made in LA. The number of options you have when styling this kind of skirt will amaze you. Click here to see the options available.

Nothing says southern CA beach vibes like a palm tote! Totes are so versatile, especially for travel.

Only a few miles down the way is Abbot Kinney, a charming, shopping district in Venice, CA. Full disclosure, although I really love the shops in the area, I am not a fan of the attitudes. The vibe is very pretentious-hipster.  Luckily, there are plenty of places to have a craft cocktail so you can get loose and shop without a care in the world; that is until you realize how expensive everything is.

Abbot Kinney

Burro, is a female-owned southern CA boutique that has a funky, “western” bohemian vibe. Full of well-curated goods including awesome cards and stationery, trinkets, coffee table companions, handcrafted accessories, and home decor. You will definitely find something for your bestie (and yourself) here! One of the items in this style guide will be traveling to Eugene, Oregon for Christmas to one of my unsuspecting friends. Can you guess which one? 😉

You’ll find a carefully curated selection of home goods, accessories, and novel gifts at Burro.

I could not resist including the Felted Abominable Snowman Ornament. I am a sucker for novel Christmas ornaments and since I am obsessed with nostalgia, this Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer character made me giddy with joy.

One of the things I love about local southern California boutiques is their book selections.  Not only are the books carefully chosen, but they are unlikely to be found in traditional retail outlets.

Manhattan Beach

A few miles down the coast, we reach Manhattan Beach, one of my personal favorite beach towns, filled with independent boutiques, and locally-owned restaurants. Katwalk is a boho boutique down by the sea and has the most affordable and on-trend apparel and footwear, as well as a carefully curated selection of jewelry. The collections are sorted by color making it very easy to find exactly what you are looking for or if you’re like me, find something completely unrelated to what you were actually shopping for.

Laguna Beach

A trip along Highway 1 (PCH) for about an hour in a half will take you to another fantastic Southern California boutique in Laguna Beach, one of the most beautiful beach towns in all of Southern California.   Aptly named Laguna Supply Company is filled with local brands, wellness products, and fun gift ideas, you’ll spend hours browsing in person or online and will likely end up purchasing something for yourself as well.

You can get an exclusive look at more Southern California boutiques by signing up for my newsletter.  In the interim, to see more local shops, follow me on Instagram where I highlight independent boutiques monthly.

Now, excuse me while I finish my holiday shopping from the comfort of my couch with a hot toddy.

Peace, Love & Prosecco,
